Château de Fontlade
Fontlade and Pérégrinage, our two vineyards, are only one mile apart and are located east of Brignoles, onthe eastern border of the Coteaux Varois en Provence.
Our estate of approximately 40 hectares in vines and 500 hectares of forest is situated on pebbly terraces( a mix of chalk and clay) at an average altitude of 250 m above sea level.Two hectares of our vineyard are in the Cotes de Provence area and wel offer you both a dry rosé and a dry white in that "appellation".
Our grape varieties are shiraz, grenache,cinsaut, cabernet sauvignon, rolle (vernmentino) and carignan.
In 2000 the Baronne de Montremy, owner of the vineyard,decided to modernize the whole wine making process.
The estate now produces and sells its own wines, carefully made for your enjoyment.
There has not been a year in which Fontlade did not earn praise in the press --specialised or not -- and in te better-known guides, especially the Hachette Guide.
"WE ARE NOW CONSIDERED AS ONE OF PROVENCE'S TOP WINE MAKERS".
As you know French "appellations" are not easy to understand! Fontlade happens to have two plots on the AOC Côtes de Provence side of the road : so this year we are proud to launch our first Côtes de Provence Rosé and White.
As a reminder of the roman road which our estates overlook we have named these wines AURELIA PRIMA.
We are also happy to introduce MADEMOISELLE DE FONTLADE a sparkling dry rosé to supplement our own BARON DE FONTLADE.
